You were paying the fine in instalments when bailiffs attended

When the bailiff sends a Notice of Enforcement,[1] he earns a compliance stage fee of £75.[2]

When the bailiff attends, he earns the enforcement stage fee £235.[3]

If you set up a repayment schedule with the court, or the bailiff when you first received the Notice of Enforcement, then the bailiff stands to lose the £235 enforcement stage fee.

The bailiff attended so he can add the enforcement stage fee to the sum outstanding.

Do a change of circumstances.[4] That ends the enforcement power,[5] and cancels all the bailiff’s fees and charges.[6]
