The judgment debt is more than six years old.

Judgments debt cannot be enforced after six years from the date of judgment.[1]

Bailiffs may not take control of goods after 12 months from the date of issue on the Notice of Enforcement.[2]

A writ of control expires after 12 months from the date of issue,[3] but the creditor may apply for a further 12-month extension.[4]

Check the date of the judgment[5] and look at the date of issue on the writ of control. If the two dates are more than six years apart, the debtor may apply to stay the enforcement of the writ.[6][7] and apply for costs.[8][9][10]
