A V5 only registered with the DVLA the name and address of a person responsible for taxing and its use on the road.
The front of the V5 document states:
THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP
It shows who is responsible for registering and taxing the vehicle.
If the vehicle is involved in an unpaid traffic contravention debt, the bailiff will be instructed with a Warrant of Control which will name the registered keeper as the liable person, and the registered keepers address as the address to take control of the debtors goods.
If the vehicle is on hire purchase,[1] or is exempt,[2] or owned by somebody else,[3] then the bailiff may not take control of it.
