If you persuade the council to stop the enforcement, it also cancels the bailiff's fees.[1][2]
Contact your local councillor by email, ask them to make a plea to the leader of the council to end the enforcement action and return the case back to town hall administration.
The council also has the authority to write off the arrears.[3]

If they accept your plea and the council ceases enforcement, they will contact the bailiff.
