Can bailiffs take my sofa?

Yes

The bailiff may take control of goods that belong to the debtor.[1]

They must leave enough furniture reasonably required to satisfy the basic domestic needs of the debtor and every member of the debtor's household.[2]

The bailiff cannot sell any sofa without the original fire safety labels attached to it.[3]

If the fire safety labels are removed from the sofa, the bailiff cannot resell it, therefore it has no material value towards paying the debt and leaves the bailiff with the cost of disposing of the sofa which he stands little chance of paying the debt.

The bailiff would be best not to interfere with a sofa. They are Difficult to sell on the second hard market, let alone find a charity shop to take it away.
